Let me add to the question - Is it better to host photos on Flickr, Picasa, Google Docs OR is it better to use an open source gallery - like gallery or Zenphoto
Which is best for SEO?  Open Source Galleries or Flickr types

I would have to say Flickr or Google. Depends on if Google "no follow" tags or not. I don't think the open source galleries have nearly as much website authority as the major ones.
Just one ninja talkin here though. Opinions may vary.
What is a "no follow" tag?    --Reply posted by GreenRoofGuy 3 months 28 days ago.
It is an html tag placed in links that tells search engine spiders not to follow that link to it's website. Thus you get no rank benefit or SEO value from it. It's only value is how many people will see that link and actually come to your website.
A lot of time could potentially be wasted if you are trying to link build on sites that use no follow. Blog commenting is typically the biggest culprit. Most blog platforms default to no follow tags in the comments. Some don't even let you turn it off.    --Reply posted by DomainNameNinja 3 months 28 days ago.
Re: no follow detection is easiest (what i've found anyways) by using internet explorer click view and select source. This shows you the page you are looking at in html code. Scroll down and examine the links. If you see rel=nofollow anywhere, no SEO credit for you.    --Reply posted by DomainNameNinja 3 months 28 days ago.

Isn't it against Flickr rules to use their site for commerce purposes? You have to be super careful if you use them; one wrong move and you're banned.
